Visible Light Transmittance

Measuring the transmittance of sunlight through transparent, translucent, or reflectively coated building materials is necessary to determine the amount of natural daylight entering to interior space. Two industry-standard tests on a variety of materials are provided to measure solar (visible) transmittance. The value provides architecture information for daylight control and interior lighting design.

The visible light transmittance test is performed according to the following test standards:

- ASTM E972

- ASTM E1084
